Leon Rosen w/ Ellisa Sun & Fiona Maura
City Winery Nashville Presents Leon Rosen w/ Ellisa Sun & Fiona Maura live in concert on November 19th at 7:00pm
Leon Rosen was raised in a San Francisco artist commune originally founded in 1969. A child of hippies, he was surrounded by circus, theater and visual art, and fell in love with music. He dropped out of high school to pursue music, composing for theater, operas, films, burlesque, clown shows, attending music school at the New School Jazz and Contemporary Music Program in New York City. He spent several years in Israel/Palestine, involved with "Jerusalem Peacemakers" an organization dedicated to reconciliation and dialogue between Jews and Arabs. While there he encountered a vocal coach who changed his life and found his his own voice as a singer-songwriter. He moved back to San Francisco immersing himself in the Indie scene, recording my EP at Tiny Telephone (Death Cab, Sleater Kinney, John Vanderslice) where his releases have reached several million streams. Leon's love of 1970s era piano-pop combines with contemporary indie rock and electronic music. The resulting recordings boast a sweet, nostalgic vibe with modern beats and arrangements. His music is similar to Tame Impala, Elliot Smith and Sparklehorse. An Indie Chopin; your 21st century Billy Joel.
