An Evening With Monica Ramey
City Winery Presents An Evening With Monica Ramey live on February 22nd at 7:00pm.
"Now that the trend of aging rockers cutting albums of show tunes and standards seems
thankfully to have run its course, we're back to vocalists with a real feel for and understanding of
the jazz tradition doing them justice. Nashville's Monica Ramey is a shining example. Her
excellent release Make Someone Happy offers resourceful, soaring and engaging interpretations
of material from The Great American Songbook." -Ron Wynn, Nashville Scene
This kind of reaction is a reoccurring theme in the case of Midwest native Monica Ramey and
artists like Beegie Adair, Mandy Barnett, Jeff Coffin, Jeff Steinberg, Annie Sellick, Roger
Spencer, Rod McGaha, Anthony Wilson, Clifton Davis and Lori Mechem are just a few who
are singing her praise.
Monica is a native of Francesville, one of Indiana’s smallest towns. As a child, Monica would
sing and dance on stage with her mother’s high school show choir. She’s studied music since she
was a child and after college graduation, she moved to Nashville to pursue her singing career,
where she discovered the Nashville Jazz Workshop, studying under some of Nashville finest jazz
musicians as well as create a family away from home.
Monica is best known for her longstanding musical relationship with jazz pianist Beegie Adair.
Together, they appeared on and produced multiple recordings together and played sold out jazz
clubs across the US, most often Birdland Jazz Club in New York. Monica is currently co-
producing and co-hosting, VARIETY ON MAIN, a monthly variety show, with singer Mandy
Barnett and producing the GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK music and speaker series, both
for the Franklin Theatre in historic Franklin TN.
When not performing, Monica operates Adair Music Group, LLC and enjoys spending time with
her loved ones and animals, traveling, cooking and gardening. Monica supports various animal,
music and human rights organizations.
