An Evening With Kudzu Kings
City Winery Nashville Presents An Evening With Kudzu Kings live on April 19th at 7:30pm
KUDZU KINGS have been an institution since 1994, touring east of the Rockies for a solid ten years and since then, playing frequently at festivals and music venues in the Southeast with their special blend of country, rock, and swamp boogie. The band has sold 10,000 units each of their first two albums and fans continue to post and trade live shows online. While the band gained popularity playing the “jamband” circuit, however the majority of the songs are in a more traditional vein, stories about life in the south, in a style the band calls “funktry”. (see excerpt in the book “Jambands: the complete guide to the players, music, & scene” by Dean Budnick ).
While the band has had a few personnel changes in the past thirty years, the original lineup has been reunited and playing together for the last ten: Tate Moore (vocals, acoustic guitar), Robert Chaffe (keyboards), and “Kudzu” Dave Woolworth (vocals, bass), Max Williams (vocals, lead and slide guitars), George McConnell (vocals, rhythm, and lead guitars; also, formerly of Beanland and Widespread Panic), and Chuck Sigler (drums).
The band released their 25th Anniversary Concert in 2020, and is available on CD, digital download, and streaming platforms. Kudzu Kings also just recently released True Tales from the Bike Race, a live, double vinyl LP in August 2023, and are working on a third record of new studio material (to replace the third record scrapped several years back). All the members are active gigging in regional and local side projects together when not performing as Kudzu Kings.
